Fastest Run Yet!

After a long weekend of working and having too much fun I was planning on relaxing on the couch last night... Then Jen my running buddy texted me asking me to go for a run with her and of course I couldn't say no. I was already exhausted before the run so I didn't think it was going to be a good one. We ended up running 6 miles in 1:02. That is the fastest I have ever run. We ran the cross-city trail around campus which is about 3 miles long twice. The first time around we did it in about 28 minutes. (I don't have the exact times because I use a GPS app on my phone and I can't remember all the times. The second time around was a little slower because I lost some of my steam but all-in-all it was a GREAT run and I am so glad that I went!

Only 39 more days until the Disney Wine and Dine Half! Happy Running!

Finally Getting into the Swing of Things

My running buddy Jen asked me to go for a run last night but I had to turn her down because I was exhausted after work and just wasn't feeling it. Instead I got up and went for a lovely 7 mile run on the beach. It was one of those runs where you get lost inside your own mind and forget that you are running.
I started out on the loop and then started running through the beautiful neighborhoods of Wrightsville Beach. Eventually I decided to run on the actual beach and this was my view to get there

Gorgeous right?! I would kill to live on the beach but living 10 minutes away isn't so bad :)

Some other pretty pictures and a collage I made to post to my Instagram!

Have a good weekend y'all!

Nom Nom Nom

After my long night of studying and early morning of exams I decided to treat myself with a yummy but healthy(ish) lunch.

I started with this Kale salad from Target. It came with cheese, croutons, and a lemon garlic vinaigrette. When I opened it the croutons were very smashed so I substituted Annie's cheddar bunnies. If you've never tried these you need to! They are way tastier than goldfish and all organic. This was the first time I have ever tried Kale and I'm not going to lie, I wasn't a big fan. I think it was a texture thing for me. I want to try making those Kale chips that everyone talks about.

Then I heated up half a chicken breast that I had made yesterday and made some sweet potato fries which are my guilty pleasure! I can never have enough sweet potato fries.

This is the results of my run last night! Very slowww 5 miles but I was exhausted and I still have that pesky cold!

Today is a rest day from running for me as I'm working until 10 tonight. Hoping I can drag my butt out of bed early tomorrow morning for a nice therapeutic run on the beach!

Happy Almost Friday!

Study, Study, Study!

The only day to describe today is blahhhhh.

Even the weather agrees with me, it is very cloudy today (which probably isn't helping with my blah mood).

I have two big exams tomorrow: Marine Biology and Genetics, and they are back to back. Yuck! If you know me you know I am a huge procrastinator so I have barely started studying. I'm seeing an all nighter in my future...

This wil be my view for the next 10 millions hours. If anyone wants to come and save me, please feel free!

I also can't seem to kick this cold that I have. Not being able to breathe through your nose makes it very hard to run. Whenever my concentration starts to go elsewhere while I'm studying I will take a break and go on a longer run (hopefully).

My Favorite Place to Run

This right here is why I started to run...

Wrightsville Beach. It is my absolute favorite running spot and it is what first motivated me to start running in the first place. Look at that view! Just gorgeous. It is the most peaceful place I have ever ran. There is also this thing called the loop that is right by the beach. The loop is a 2.5 mile trail that goes around the town of Wrightsville Beach. It is concrete and much easier to run on than sand. Definitely my second favorite place to run!

And this is a picture of me and my sister's niece on Wrightsville Beach! I'm not technically related to her, but I love her like we are. She calls me "big sis" and I am completely fine with that. My sister, her sister-in-law, and her daughter came to visit me this summer in Wilmington and we had lot's of fun on the beach! Love my family!

Today I ran the loop once in 23:30 which is pretty fast for me. Still working on getting back into heavy training and getting faster times. Tonight I had one of those runs where you get lost in your music and completely forget you are running. They are the best! Before I knew it I was done with my run and on my way back to my apartment for some strength training and dinner.

Slacking

So when I first made this blog it was summer, and I didn't have much going on. Now that classes have started back up I am much busier and I keep putting this on the back burner. I promise I am going to try and blog more often.

Not only am I slacking with my blog, I am also slacking with my running. My half marathon is in 52 days and I only have my milage up to about 5 miles- YIKES! To say I'm panicking is an understatement. So here's what I've been doing in my free time instead of running.

So this is me and my best friend Renee at the Jason Aldean concert

And this is my other good friend Summer at the concert... We all really like taking pictures if you couldn't tell. It's because we don't get dressed up and go out very much so when we do we have to document it!

And this is Jen. My number one running buddy! The concert was a blast and I couldn't have asked for better people to share it with!

These are pictures from the Matisyahu concert last night. He was AMAZING!! Such a good performer and he sure knows how to dance. I was second row so I was able to snap some really good pictures and he even jumped into the crowd and crowd surfed. It was a very fun concert!
