MIMM: GOTR/STRIDE 5K

Hello Hello! Can you believe Christmas is only 9 days away?! I have ZERO shopping done and I am starting to panic. I like to use the excuse that I fly home for the holidays and therefore can't bring a lot of extra "stuff" with me, but the truth is I could've been picking up little things or buying gifts online. I just cannot come up with anything creative to get anyone besides my Brother-in-Law. Super excited about his present btw! More on that later!

I had another Marvelous weekend and this Monday is extra marvelous because I did not have to go to lab or worry about studying for once! Here is a look at my marvelous weekend...

Friday started with an amazing 5 mile run on the beach!

It then continued with a party with some awesome friends to celebrate being done with school. It was also a last get-together before a lot of us head home for the holidays!

I may or may not have stayed out much later than I planned... which made for a very hard time waking up for my 5k on Saturday. I think I might have shed a few tears when my alarm went off. But once I got my butt out of bed and started to wake up I was fine and excited! Saturday was the 5k for Girls on the Run and Stride, the last time for my kiddos to strut their stuff and show what they've been working for the whole season.

Picture from my Instagram

They all did so well and I could not be more proud of them! I'm not going to do an official recap for this race since it was purely for fun so here is a little mini recap: There were 1200 people total and about 550 of those were the boys and girls participating in GOTR or STRIDE. The course was not the best course I have ran on, but also not the worse. I don't think they expected that many people to run. They only had one lane open for everyone to run in and it was VERY crowded. I spent a lot of the race zig-zagging around other runners/walkers and never really got into a steady pace because of this. They let the boys start first and then the girls started in 2 different waves. I was in the last wave with my GOTR team. Around mile 2 a lot of my boys had already reached the turn around so I got to cheer them on as they headed towards the finish! I also caught up to a couple of them and got to run with them for a bit which was so much fun! I also ran with a lot of my girls. Anytime I saw any of my kids I would run over and stay with them for a bit and cheer them on. I've never ran a race with more than about 5 people I know so it was cool seeing a bunch of familiar faces! When I reached the finish 4 of my speedy boys had already finished so they got to give me high fives and cheer for me as I crossed the finish line- the best way to end a race! My official time was 32:40 a 10:34 pace. I then got to wait with my boys for the rest of my kids! Seeing their faces as they crossed the finish line and received their medals was so rewarding. I've said it once and I'll say it again, being a coach for these AMAZING organizations has been such a blessing in my life and I encourage anyone who has time to volunteer to be a coach at least once! I promise it is life changing!

After the race I went straight to work for 7 hours and then went straight home where I watched Netflix and was in bed by about 8! Such a crazy Saturday night!

Sunday started with another 7 hour shift at work woo-hoo! And ended with this amazingness...

Holy crapper snappers! If you guys haven't tried this you need to! It is also life changing (not as life changing as coaching)

I'm heading back to Ohio this afternoon for a couple of weeks of family time! My mom sent me this picture of my cat today. Apparently he's been driving her nuts ruining the Christmas tree! (hehe) For those of you who know me you know I'm more of a dog person than a cat person but I love all animals. One day I went out to buy a new pair of shoes and came home with a kitten. I'm a sucker for the animals in the pet shops and couldn't bear to leave this little guy. I used to have him at school with me, but due to multiple reasons he unfortunately had to go back to Ohio to live and has since bonded with our dog so I would feel too guilty taking him back. For as much as my mom complains about him (her nickname for him is Meeko Monster) I know she would miss him too! His name is Meeko, the Disney lover in me had to pick a name from a Disney movie of course! Anyone know what movie/character? I call him Meeko Bubba, not sure why but it fits!

So excited to see this cutie later today! Once again here's to hoping all of my flights are on time and I make it home! Apparently we have a lot of snow!
I hope your Monday and the rest of the week is just Marvelous!

Questions of the Day
  • Are you a cat or dog person?
  • Where is your favorite place to run? (road, park, beach, etc)
  • Is anyone else as behind on Christmas shopping as me?!

MIMM: New Shoes and a Christmas Party

Does anyone else feel like this weekend flew by?! I guess time really does fly when you're having fun, and it was oh so Marvelous!

Friday was marvelous because my new running shoes that I ordered on Wednesday had already arrived! Thank you Dick's Sporting Goods! I am in love with them! I haven't gone on a run with them yet, but sometime this week they will be tested out.

A nice glass of wine in a glittery glass (say that 5 times fast) was also marvelous on Friday night.

Saturday started off with a quick trip to the mall to find the perfect LBD for a Christmas party I was attending that night. The party was for something with the Air Force, I should know exactly what it was for but I can't remember. All I know are the letters WFFFFR which has something to do with the Rocketeers. Gosh I'm probably butchering whatever it was for, sorry! Anywhooo I found a dress obviously...

My date for the night. Yes he is wearing a snake skin shirt and a Spongebob tie... looking sooo snazzy (It's a long story, don't ask)

aaand more pictures

It was a last minute plan, but I'm so glad I went. Lot's of food, friends, and dancing. Such a blast!

I can't say much about Sunday. The party was in Goldsboro which is about an hour and a half away from where I live, and I unfortunately had to work at 2 on Sunday so I got to enjoy a very gloomy drive home. I thought I was going to fall asleep! I-40 has got to be the most boring highway ever!

After 7 hours of work my butt is finally sitting on the couch so I guess that is marvelous right? I have a very busy week full of finals coming up! It seems like this time of year is busy for everyone so remember...

Have a good week :)

MIMM: Free Time

It is another Marvelous Monday here at Running for Cupcakes!

Marvelous is fun nights out with your best friend.

Marvelous is lazy Monday mornings.

Marvelous is forgetting to turn the heat on and waking up to a FREEZING apartment?

Okay so this isn't very marvelous but it did give me an excuse to stay tucked in my warm bed even longer this morning :)

Marvelous is the weather officially being cold in Wilmy...

Until tomorrow apparently. Wilmington weather is so bi-polar!

Marvelous is a 2-day week at school. We only have two days of class this week and my lab was cancelled for today so I technically only have one day of classes this week. Then I am off to Ohio where I will definitely freeze my butt off!

Happy Monday Everyone!

MIMM

It's another Marvelous Monday!

Marvelous is Movie Nights with Friends. Saturday night instead of going out like normal college students my friends and I first went to Texas Roadhouse where we all ate double our weight in yummy food. We literally rolled out of the restaurant. Then we decided to stop at Redbox and get a movie. We picked This is The End because we had heard that it was hilarious, and we were all in the mood for a good laugh. I don't know if we just have a bad sense of humor or what but none of us found it funny, it was just weird and didn't really have a point. Afterwards we watched 21 and Over which was funny at the beginning but I fell asleep halfway through. Woo crazy college students!

Marvelous is Payday! I love payday and actually needed the money this time so that I could get some groceries. (I spent way too much money in Disney) What's not so marvelous is that I left my paycheck at work on Friday so I just waited until I worked again last night to get it. I guess it was for the best so that I wasn't tempted to spend all of it over the weekend.

Marvelous is blogging instead of doing your homework that is due in 4 hours. Hehe I think this one is self-explanatory.

Marvelous is following my new Twitter and Instagram. @RunFor_Cupcakes for Twitter and @_courtmoore for Instagram. This is my desperate but shameless begging... Please follow me! Okay that's embarrassing I'm done I swear.

Marvelous is waking up in the middle of the night starving and eating a Clif Bar in bed.

Marvelous is Peanut Butter and Banana Toast. This is my all time favorite breakfast. It's just peanut butter and banana on a flax seed sandwich thin. Sooo yummy!

And the number one thing that is Marvelous in my Monday is signing up for the Hope 4 Philippines Virtual 5k. I read about it on Hungry Runner Girl's blog and knew I had to sign up. Here's a link to her post with all of the information. All you have to do is donate $15 or more if you would like, and run a 5k Nov 20-24 and send in your times. Everyone who registers gets an active headband and it is for a great cause. Everyone go sign up!

Happy Monday! I hope everyone has a great week!

MIMM- Marvelous in My Monday

I'm trying a new link up today thanks to Healthy Diva Life! This is what is Marvelous in my Monday.

Marvelous is... Coffee. I don't drink a lot of coffee but there are just some mornings when you need a good cup of coffee to get your day started.

Marvelous is... Family Dinner Night. Every Sunday night I get together with some of my best friends from work for something we like to call Family Dinner Night. We take turns making dinner for everyone and just hang out, eat, drink, and be merry!

Marvelous is... Bonfires. There is nothing better than a fall bonfire complete with hot chocolate and s'mores.

Marvelous is... My dad and my kitty. I used to have my cat down here in Wilmington, but due to my old roommate "accidentally" letting him outside multiple times he moved back to Ohio with my parents. Meeko (my cat) LOVES my dad. My dad pretends not to like him, but we all know he secretly loves Meeko.

Marvelous is... Puppy sitting. I watched my running buddy Jen's dog this weekend while she was out of town. Meet Luke Bryan! Isn't he the cutest?!

Marvelous is... Being friends with the same person since the day they were born. I don't think I have mentioned her before but this is Bre. We have literally been friends since the day she was born. I love her so much and wish I could see her more often. I always look forward to seeing her when I go visit Ohio.

What is Marvelous about your Monday?

Happy Monday everyone! I hope y'all have a great day :)
